Top scorer market is wide open

LAST season there were two clear front-runners in the scoring stakes.

Jordan Rhodes, who delighted those who backed the 40-goal Huddersfield striker at 9-1, was second in the pecking order for some bookmakers with Shaun Wright-Phillips of Charlton preferred as low as 7-1.

This time, the market is wide open. Nobody seems to have a clue what will happen.

Ryan Lowe showed his prowess at League One level by netting seven times in as many games at the start of last season. Now he is now with well-fancied MK Dons and should bag a fair few.

Bournemouth are a side with plenty of firepower and though currently injured, Frank Demouge is an intriguing outside prospect.

And Brentford's new Moroccan forward Farid El Alagui showed he knows where the net is by becoming Scottish football's second-top scorer last season with 27 for First Division Falkirk.

Top scorer odds: Chris Porter, Richard Cresswell 16-1; Andy Williams, Matt Tubbs, Lewis Grabban, Dave Kitson 20-1; Clayton Donaldson, Charlie MacDonald, Iain Hume, Ryan Lowe, Jordan Slew 25-1; Dan Taylor,

Robbie Simpson 50-1.

Selections: Ryan Lowe, MK Dons 25-1 (BetVictor); Frank Demouge, Bournemouth 33-1 (Ladbrokes); Farid El Alagui, Brentford 40-1 (totesport).
