A FULL-ON performance is the goal for Athletic boss Paul Dickov as he attempts to lay to rest the club’s MK Dons hoodoo.

Twice in the past four seasons, a visit to stadium:mk has seen the team put through the mill.

John Sheridan lost his job after a 6-2 hammering three years ago and last term, Dickov’s men felt the force of a comprehensive 5-0 defeat.

While Karl Robinson’s Dons side are second-favourites to pick up the npower League One title at the end of the season, Athletic’s manager is confident his men can upset the odds on the opening day — provided they play football with the same fizz for the whole 90 minutes.

“I went to watch MK Dons play at Cheltenham and we all know how Karl likes his teams to play,” said Dickov, of a game the Dons won 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

“It will be a different test for us. We look to approach the game in a similar way to the Sheffield Wednesday match — but we will look to carry it out for the full 90 minutes.”
