Goals were so sloppy – boss
Date published: 21 August 2012
ATHLETIC boss Paul Dickov admitted his side were below-par and that the nature of the two goals conceded was particularly frustrating.
“We knew it was a tough place to come as they are rightly one of the favourites to go up.
“But you have to help yourselves a little bit, too. The goals we conceded were poor. And when you come to places like this you have to start the game properly.
“We sat off them a bit too much and gave the ball away too easily. The second half was much better. We created a few chances and possibly could have had a goal.
“We say to players all the time, if you are marking your man you get hold of him and make sure he doesn’t score. It was a free header which is poor. The second goal was an attacking free-kick, the goalkeeper has taken it too easily and they broke on us and scored.
“A little bit of communication was lacking – two players went for the same man – and before you know it, it is in the back of the net.”
