Robbie Simpson: positive attitude
ROBBIE Simpson hopes to make his first visit to Fratton Park a memorable one — by ending a difficult week for Athletic with three points.
Saturday’s opponents Portsmouth have two points from their three games so far, one more than Athletic.
Simpson believes the side can rediscover the form that caused Sheffield Wednesday so many problems in the first half of the Capital One Cup first-round tie two weeks ago.
“Portsmouth is a great place to go to,” said the 27-year-old forward. “It is a big stage on which we can go and express ourselves.
“We have to play with no fear. The be-all and end-all is the result. Pompey are a club who, despite their money troubles, won the FA Cup as recently as 2008.
“They have signed decent players and I am sure they will fancy their chances.
“As far as we are concerned, it is a great stage on which to go out and show people what we can do.
“We know that if we can get back to where we were, we will be fine.”
The players had a double training session yeterday in preparation.
