Latics in new striker search

JORDAN SLEW: long time on the sidelines.
ATHLETIC are working on revealing at least one new forward today - but all could hinge on whether Blackburn allow the loan of Jordan Slew to be cancelled.
Jose Baxter could sign in time to play against Notts County tomorrow and there is a chance that another forward – a number nine, rather than a creator – might arrive at Boundary Park.
Slew is on six-month youth loan at Athletic and has played four games, but an injury against Portsmouth is a stress fracture of his lower back that will put him out until December.
Athletic hope Blackburn will agree to cut short the agreement, giving manager Paul Dickov scope to hire another striker.
“A scan has shown he will be out for a minimum of 12 weeks — that takes it to Christmas time, when his loan is nearly up. We will talk to Blackburn then we will have to look at getting someone else in.
James Wesolowski will probably join the squad tomorrow, though on the subs’ bench.
The Australian midfielder has been absent for the season so far. Dean Furman is back from international duty to help Athletic hunt down back-to-back League One victories.
