Baxter happy to stay at Boundary Park

JOSE Baxter has given his Athletic experience a solid thumbs-up.
“I love it here,” said the ex-Everton striker. “If they want to extend my stay I’ll be made up.”
There is little chance of boss Paul Dickov letting his man leave without a battle when his four-month deal expires on January 14.
On the evidence to date at Boundary Park — including a neat goal against Notts County — Baxter’s liking for all things Athletic will also be music to the ears of supporters.
Whether the talented 20-year-old forward gets his first start in the game at Brentford tomorrow, up against former Goodison team-mates Adam Forshaw and Jake Bidwell, remains to be seen.
Not yet up to full match fitness, Baxter was lively along with fellow substitute Robbie Simpson in his second appearance during the midweek draw against Scunthorpe.
Asked whether the two can operate in tandem, Dickov replied: “We saw the other night that they can. There are lots of possibilities.”
Dickov has lost both of his battles so far with former Manchester City strike partner Rosler. Last season, Athletic were defeated 2-0 in both npower League One meetings with Brentford.
A victory tomorrow for Athletic, who have a game in hand on all but three rivals, could push the team as high as 13th.
Meanwhile, Dickov said he is hoping that young fringe players will soon go out on loan to gain experience.
