Desperate to succeed

PAUL Dickov’s Athletic side will go in search of their first home win of the season tomorrow.
Athletic manager Paul Dickov says he will do everything he can for his team to beat Coventry at Boundary Park tomorrow.
The encounter pits the Sky Blues, relegated in May and without a win in npower League One in 2012-13, against an Athletic outfit that hasn’t won at home so far this season.
Something has to give tomorrow — and Dickov feels the majority of fans will depart with relieved smiles come 5pm.
“I put pressure on myself, all the time, whether we are winning games or losing games,” said Dickov.
“There is nobody more frustrated and upset than I am when we get beaten. The one thing I want to do is succeed. And I will do everything I can, working as hard as I can, to make sure it happens.”
Dickov feels there are signs the team’s luck is about to change. He stressed the importance of a good start against Mark Robins’ men.
On the question of whether and where to start Jose Baxter tomorrow, Dickov said that he ideally prefers him to play up front.
The ex-Everton man has yet to feature in the starting line-up for Athletic.
“Jose hasn’t been match-fit to start,” said Dickov. “And when we’ve needed to change it and go more attacking, he can play in midfield. More often than not, I see Jose as a forward. That is where he is at his best.”
