Call of duty for Furman
Date published: 05 October 2012
DEAN Furman has been called up to the South Africa squad for two friendlies.
Athletic’s captain was named man of the match on his second outing against Mozambique last month, after impressing on his debut against Brazil.
Furman (24) will feature in games in Warsaw, Poland (October 12) and in Nairobi, Kenya (October 16), and will miss his club’s away game at Sheffield United on Saturday week.
His chances of netting a place for the African Cup of Nations early next year improved this week with the news that fellow midfielder and Bafana captain Steven Pienaar has retired from international football.
