Blame us, says Croft

LEE CROFT: backing manager Paul Dickov.
ATHLETIC’S players should shoulder the burden of poor recent results — not the manager.
So says winger Lee Croft, who is backing his boss Paul Dickov all the way as the club aims to build on a terrific midweek victory at Crewe.
Croft (27) was also positive about the backroom staff ahead of a crunch game against Preston — in which Athletic bid for a first home victory of the season.
“The win at Crewe was not only for the lads but for the gaffer as well,” said Croft, who was brought to the club by ex-Manchester City colleague Dickov on a season-long loan from Derby.
“He is doing everything right. He is a great manager and he and his staff work on all the right things.
“If the players who go out on a Saturday afternoon are not getting results, you have to look at us — because we aren’t doing what they are telling us to do.
“It is good for us to get that win for him and the staff.”
Croft says with several talented players on board, Athletic can start to achieve a position in League One more in tune with the squad’s ability.”
