SNAKE-HIPS Montano’s goal celebration
AFTER 10 appearances and 25 shots at goal, Cristian Montano was finally able to publicly unveil what team-mate Cliff Byrne referred to on Twitter as “snake hips”.
"I love a bit of a dance, so I’ll be doing that every time I score,” said the former West Ham winger, again outstanding as his purple patch of form finally yielded reward in the shape of his first goal for the club.
That strike was enough to give Athletic’s supporters a Saturday night fever of their own.
“It has been very frustrating,” Montano admitted of his previous failures. “I will shoot, hit the target and the goalkeeper will make a great save.
“You think ‘what do I have to do to beat this ’keeper?’ But thankfully this time, it went in.”
The 3-1 home victory over Preston was Athletic’s first home win in seven games this season.
“I am over the moon to get our first home win,” said the 20 year old. “It was well-deserved — we battered them.
Athletic’s £60,000 signing admits he found life difficult early in this season. Lots of travel due to interest in him from clubs in France and Italy disrupted his training.
“Not having a pre-season made it difficult, but the coaching staff made it as easy as possible by making me feel very welcome here,” Montano added.
“They have worked with me on the fitness side. And the gaffer has had trust and belief in me to play me every single game, which I am grateful for.
“I feel I am getting better every game. Sheffield United will be a tough game but we have just had two wins, so we have more of it than ever. We just have to go there and keep on doing what we have been doing.”
