EXTENDED STAY: Matt Derbyshire looks set to play a further part in Athletic’s season.
ATHLETIC are working on getting maximum value from Matt Derbyshire after Paul Dickov revealed the star striker will have his loan spell extended at Boundary Park.
The Nottingham Forest striker overcame sore ribs to play a full role in the 1-1 draw at Crawley on Saturday, the final game of his initial loan spell.
Manager Paul Dickov will now sit down with club officials to work out the details of Derbyshire's loan extension.
His short-term loan can run for a maximum of 93 days. With that in mind, the 26 year old may be released from duty for Saturday's FA Cup first round tie at Kidderminster Harriers, then re-signed for next Tuesday's home npower League One game with Bury.
"Derbs will be staying," said Dickov. "It is just a case of whether we review it before the FA Cup game or after. If he plays on Saturday then he has to go back in mid-December. If we can work it right, he will be here until January."
