JAMES WESOLOWKSI . . . feeling strong after putting his injury problems behind him.
JAMES Wesolowski has hailed Jose Baxter as being among the best footballers he has ever played with — and wants him to stay on after his short-term contract expires.
Athletic's vice-captain is likely to take the skipper's armband at Kidderminster tomorrow as the club aims to make it into the second round of the FA Cup.
Strike partnership Baxter and on-loan Matt Derbyshire will both be on the team coach as manager Paul Dickov puts out what he has confirmed will be a strong line-up
Baxter has four goals in his last five outings, only missing out in the 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.
Former Leicester and Peterborough midfielder Wesolowski has been hugely impressed with the ex-Everton man.
"He is playing in the number 10 role and it is clear he has unbelievable quality," said Wesolowski
"I have been saying that he is one of the best players I have ever played with. I just hope we can keep hold of him.”
Sydney-born Wesolowski is bouncing back after a string of shoulder dislocations last season that resulted in surgery.
"I have put that behind me and I have a new brace which is working out really well and keeping me together," he added.
"I feel really strong at the moment, so if I continue doing work in the gym and rehab with the physio it shouldn't be popping out again."
ATHLETIC captain Dean Furman has admitted he is unhappy being a substitute — and will battle to regain his place in the team.
The central midfielder was dropped for the game at Crawley.
"I am disappointed not to be in the team and I can't hide that fact," said the South Africa star.
"The manager picks the team he thinks is best suited to the game. I will work hard and fight for my place."
