This was for our superb fans

SO we will pit our wits against Liverpool on January 27 in the FA Cup fourth round — and no-one deserves that more than our fantastic supporters.

They follow us through thick and thin and they were a major factor in our 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest.

It was unbelievable — they sang their hearts out from the first whistle to the last and backed us all the way.

We adjusted tactically at half-time to get in their faces, and it worked.

I was delighted to score twice in four minutes, and it was nearly a hat-trick almost straight away, only for Lee Camp to block my shot!

Jose Baxter put the icing on the cake and they couldn’t live with us in that second period.

I’m so pleased for everyone at the club. When the fourth-round draw was made it was a big ‘wow’ moment and even though a return to Anfield would have been nice, I think it is great that our fans will see the match at Boundary Park.

There is a buzz around the place. With tickets on sale and television coverage sorted it has become a reality, and I know people behind the scenes are working around the clock. That said, we have some very important League One fixtures coming up before Liverpool.

We host one of my former clubs, Brentford, on Saturday and it will be tough because they are flying.

I loved my season there because it is a fantastic family club. I scored four goals in my first six games before a hamstring injury upset my rhythm, but I still managed 18 starts and look back on it fondly.

These days they have excellent backing and a good wages budget. We will have to play as we did in the second half at Forest to overcome Uwe Rosler’s side.

I think that has been a problem all along — consistency. We have hit the heights this season but also let ourselves down, and 2013 has to be about finding the solution.

I hope our fans turn out in force again on Saturday. Hopefully our performance will keep them singing.
