Latics player search goes on

James Wesolowski - suspension
PAUL Dickov was today continuing his search for players to bolster Athletic’s lightweight midfield.
With skipper Dean Furman with South Africa in the African Cup of Nations and James Wesolowski serving a three-match ban, the Athletic boss was forced to turn to fringe players Youssouf Mchangama and Carl Winchester for last Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat by Brentford.
With Wesolowski serving the last game of a three-match ban during the Coventry game on Saturday and Furman not back for the immediate future, Dickov would like to bring in at least one midfielder before the weekend.
Athletic chief executive Neil Joy said: “It is no secret that the manager is looking around, but he would have to wheel and deal to bring in players.”
ATHLETIC have set a new date for their home npower League One fixture against Yeovil.
The match should have been played on Saturday, January 26 — the weekend of the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool. It will now be on Tuesday, February 5 (7.45pm).
