Get stuck in, says Dickov

PAUL Dickov put on a brave face after Athletic’s latest defeat at Coventry - pointing out that his players were the ones pushing for three points.

Dickov said it was “sickening” to lose for a sixth time in seven league matches, after Matt Smith had headed in an equaliser late in the game.

“It was a tough one to take as I thought we deserved at least a point,” said the manager. “After we equalised, there was only one team wanting to win it.

“We had three one-on-ones with their goalkeeper and, after we scored, Chris Sutherland had a great chance six yards out. We have to start taking them.

“Coventry broke and scored in the 95th minute - which is the way things are going for us at the moment.

“What we have to do is roll up our sleeves, get stuck in and get on with it. There is nothing wrong with the character in the side. It’s just little things which are not going our way.”
