DEAN Furman was named man-of-the-match as South Africa kickstarted their African Cup of Nations campaign with a 2-0 victory over Angola.
Athletic’s skipper missed his country’s first encounter, a disappointing scoreless stalemate with Cape Verde.
But coach Gordon Igesund recalled the midfielder for the clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban and he responded with an outstanding effort in the Bafana midfield.
“I was very happy, most importantly for the three points, and because I had the chance to help the team,” Furman told KickOff.com.
Goals either side of half-time from Siyabonga Sangweni and Lehlohonolo Majoro secured the victory
Morocco and Cape Verde drew their Group 'A' meeting
1-1, meaning all four teams in South Africa’s group can yet qualify for the next stage.
