Murray’s pledge

Date published: 30 January 2013

AFTER a gap of almost nine years, inspirational midfield man Paul Murray is back at Boundary Park with a promise to help the club on and off the field.

The 36 year old, released by Hartlepool last week, has signed until the end of the season. The timing coincides with the knee injury suffered by Youssouf Mchangama - likely to rule him out for the rest of the season.

Stressing he is fit enough to feature on the pitch, Murray is also primed to assist manager Paul Dickov.

"I know my way around the club and I am here to help out in any way that I can," said Murray, who last played for Oldham in 2004.

"I am still fit enough to play and I would like to be involved. Anything the gaffer asks of me, I am happy to do."

"He brings experience," chairman Simon Corney said of the new recruit. “He is here to play a few games, but also to be a leader around the club and someone the younger players can look up to."
