FORMER Athletic boss Paul Dickov plans to change his approach to the media when he returns to management.
The Scot, who stepped down from his post following the 3-1 npower League One defeat by Walsall, opened up during a Talksport interview with Richard Keys and Andy Gray.
He said: “I used to come out and tell everyone in the press how good the players were and how we should be pushing for the top half of the table.
“But deep down I knew that once suspensions and injuries kicked in we would struggle. So when we did struggle the fans would ask questions. If I get another job soon I will be a little bit more honest.”
Dickov reiterated his belief that he left Boundary Park at the right time.
He added: “After the 3-1 defeat at Walsall, I looked at the situation and felt that I would be going into every game with a gun against my head. I am ready to take a new job now. I am unemployed for the first time since I was 16.”
