Former Cherries forward focused on firing Latics to vital home win
LEE Barnard isn’t sure if he will rub it in the faces of Bournemouth’s intrepid travelling supporters if he scores tomorrow.

But one thing is for sure: he would love to net for at least a third time in Athletic colours.

‘Barney’ has not seen many chances fall his way since arriving on a season-loan from Southampton.

But the 28 year old has showed he has a sharp eye for goal.

Having been pushed to the fringes of the Cherries’ squad, the Romford rover says he definitely has something to prove against former colleagues.

“At the moment, I will say no,” said Barnard, asked if he would celebrate if he scored.

“But maybe it depends on the reaction of their fans towards me.

“If they are giving me some stick I might give them some back!

With strike partner Chris Iwelumo, Barnard will have the task of trying to end Athletic’s run of more than four hours without scoring.

“We were very disappointed last week at Tranmere, so we want to put that right,” Barnard added.

“We have been working very hard in training this week, so I am sure tomorrow will see a much better performance.”
