GREATER Manchester Police say they backed Bury’s decision to lock hundreds of Oldham fans out of the Gigg Lane ground on Saturday.
A statement said the club’s safety officer made the decision and the police supported it “in the interests of safety”
“Consideration was given by the club to facilitate another part of the ground for Oldham fans, but regrettably no another area could be safely secured in the short time available,” it continued.
Ten people were arrested for public order offences.
