PAUL Gerrard has left Athletic and is expected to link up with his former boss Paul Dickov at Doncaster.
The goalkeeping coach (40) assisted as caretaker manager with Tony Philliskirk following Dickov’s departure in January.
Now out of contract, Doncaster have yet to formally announce his arrival at Keepmoat.
“It’s the first disappointment since I have been here,” Johnson. “I am disappointed to lose Paul as we got on well and I enjoyed working with him. I wish him all the best at Doncaster.”
ATHLETIC’S pre-season friendly against Wigan has been cancelled.
The game - scheduled for July 20 - has fallen following the Championship club’s last-minute move for training instead.
“We are extremely disappointed our pre-season schedule has been disrupted in this way,” said Athletic’s chief executive Neil Joy. Athletic are looking for an alternative match.
