Stand plans excite Corney

ATHLETIC chairman Simon Corney said he is “very excited” about the plans for the new North Stand at Boundary Park, which he hopes to have ready and completed in time for the start of the next season.
At present, the ‘empty’ side of Boundary Park features a landscape of two large piles of rubble.
But building work is due to start soon on the £5 million project, featuring a 2,300-seat facility with offices, a gym, shops and conference and banqueting facilities.
Writing in the programme for the Walsall game on Saturday, Corney said: “There is still some way to go before it is completed but hopefully we will start next season in a four-sided stadium with fantastic facilities. It has been a long time coming and you, the fans, have been incredibly patient.”
The chairman was also full of praise for manager Lee Johnson’s preparations for the 2013-14 season.
“I have never seen such attention to detail from any manager,” Corney added. “Lee has assembled a fine squad of young, talented players while at the same time relying on a core of ‘home-grown’ talent.”
