LEE Johnson is beaming again after picking up another three points.
But Athletic’s manager has quickly focused on the next task in hand — another home game, against Tranmere.
Rovers head to Boundary Park on the back of a 5-0 home drubbing by Peterborough and, for Johnson, the game against the Wirral club represents a chance to push further up the league.
“The fans have been great and they saw the tempo was where it should be,” said the manager, after Athletic saw off Port Vale 3-1 at the weekend. “They knew everyone was putting it in.
“I have had a horrible two weeks because we haven’t won, but now at least I can walk around with a smile on my face.”
It remains to be seen whether crowd favourite Jose Baxter will be back in the Athletic side.
Jonson Clarke-Harris impressed in his absence and Baxter could miss out.
“I do like to reward players for good performances by keeping them in,” said Johnson.
“That is the way I liked it as a player.”
