thumbs-up . . . Athletic boss Lee Johnson says the fans have been “brilliant”.
SIX stringed serenades are off the agenda for now — but Athletic manager Lee Johnson knows this week that team fans are singing from the same songsheet.
After a long day’s training on Monday, Johnson enjoyed a drink at the Carters Arms in Royton and watched Swansea’s televised home game with Liverpool.
He chatted to fellow watchers.
“There were some Oldham fans in there who were good lads and we ended up having a good chat, which was great,” he said.
“It showed me again that everybody around the club is really positive. I am enjoying it here and the supporters have been brilliant. It is nice to have a good relationship with the fans.”
He burned for a time over the Rotherham defeat, but says he has now worked out his disappointment with his players.
“I have to be honest, on Sunday it took me a long time to get over it as I felt a couple of people let me down,” Johnson added. “We’ve gone over it on the DVD and they have agreed with me, said sorry — and we’ve moved on.”
Athletic have a full bill of health except for Connor Brown. James Tarkowski is back in full training, and he and James Dayton are expected to be in the mix for the home game with Crewe this weekend.
ATHLETIC are selling tickets for their away match at Wolves on Tuesday, October 22 (7.45pm kick-off).
Wolves have stressed the game is all-ticket for Athletic fans. Tickets are available from Boundary Park priced at £22 adults, £13 over-65s and under-21s, £10 under-17s and £8 for under-12s.
