Mick Priest: new job
ATHLETIC’S head of coaching at academy level, Mick Priest, has left the club to take up an exciting opportunity abroad.
Priest is set to link up again with ex-Manchester United first-team coach Rene Meulensteen, who worked with him in the youth set-up at the Old Trafford club a decade ago.
The pair will reunite, possibly to make the move to the Bundesliga at Nuremberg, with Priest as manager Meulensteen’s right-hand man; or to Qatar, where Meulensteen has been linked to taking up a long-term contract as technical director in advance of the World Cup in 2022.
Simon Cooper has taken over Priest’s role in Oldham. He has stepped up from youth development phase coach for the 12-16 years age group.
Athletic are advertising for part-time UEFA ‘B’ academy coaches.
