City back on song just in time to face Latics

WATCH out, Athletic: Bristol City appear to be back in business.

After achieving a first win in 22 games at Carlisle, Sean O’Driscoll’s side has the scent of blood in its nostrils.

Despite the riches among their playing staff — what other managers at this level would do for the likes of £1million striker Sam Baldock and prolific ex-Arsenal forward Jay Emmanuel-Thomas — this has been an awful season following relegation from the Championship.

The Robins have only nine points from 13 matches.

But in going to Carlisle and winning 4-2 on Saturday, Bristol clambered off the foot of the division, briefly, before Notts County beat Athletic.

“It’s up to us to make sure this isn’t a one-off,” said midfield man Scott Wagstaff.

“The management and staff have been brilliant and we put in a performance that showed we care. But that will mean nothing if we don’t follow it up.

“We have to focus on Oldham and try to string a few results together.”
