JCH becoming such a threat – boss
ATHLETIC boss Lee Johnson praised goalscorer Jonson Clarke-Harris after his side took a deserved point against Coventry.
The striker netted his third goal in as many games with a first-half header - and though Carl Baker levelled with a superb volley, Athletic could have come back with a win as Mike Petrasso twice went close to scoring in the final stages.
“It was an excellent performance and the lads showed great determination,” said the manager.
“We were undone by a real quality goal — an overhead kick from the edge of the box — but we had chances to go on and win it.
“He has been getting better and better, Jonno (Clarke-Harris), as he has got fitter and fitter. He was a threat.”
After successive away draws at Sheffield United and Coventry, Athletic’s next outing is a New Year's Day test against Shrewsbury at Boundary Park and with the club only two points clear of the bottom four, a victory is vital.
“Shrewsbury will be a tough game, but if we show the same level of desire we will have a chance of winning it.”
