Anton Rodgers: could face his dad’s side
LATICS player Anton Rodgers has the perfect mentor when it comes to plotting against his own father.
Athletic’s midfield man (20) could step on to the Anfield turf on Sunday, in which case he would be attempting to shoot down the hopes of his dad - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers — whose family home in Formby he still shares.
Athletic boss Lee Johnson will be able to hand out suitable advice to his player: Johnson turned out against his own father, Gary, for Yeovil against Bristol City in a 1-1 draw at Huish Park in 2005, and also as a manager in a 1-0 win for Athletic against Yeovil last season.
“It will be a nice moment for Anton,” said Johnson. “It will certainly be special for him as it
doesn’t happen very often and it is rare that you get such a lovely sideline story to go alongside a big game like this one.”
