Better times ahead, insists Lockwood

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT . . . Adam Lockwood pushes himself hard during every training session.
DEFENDER Adam Lockwood is adamant the only way is up for Athletic.
Lee Johnson’s men find themselves in 16th place in Sky Bet League One. Asked if he thought that was a false position, 32-year-old former Doncaster, Yeovil and Bury centre-back Lockwood said: “Yes, by far, but we are in that position so we have to deal with it.
“Football is an unforgiving game. These situations don’t happen by accident. I’m a big believer in doing things right – day-in and day-out – and what you’re trying to achieve will come as long you keep doing your utmost.
“That’s happening at Oldham. As a squad we’ve got some great characters who are all keen to learn and to make themselves better.”
Lockwood – captured from Guiseley in January – could well be called upon for a first start at Swindon tomorrow after making his Athletic bow as a substitute on Tuesday against Wolves.
And he will be ready, if needed, saying: “Every day I come in for training I put pressure on myself. No matter how old or young you are, you have to push yourself every day.”
