It’s sweet and sour for hit-man Weso

JAMES Wesolowski’s terrific strike at Tranmere edged him closer to his season’s goals target, but it still wasn’t enough to secure victory.

But the all-action central midfielder has reflected on a positive team performance in the exciting 2-2 draw at Prenton Park; a display that did plenty to help shake off the disappointment of the dismal home defeat at the hands of MK Dons four days earlier.

Looking back on his fourth goal of the season, Saturday’s Athletic star said: “It was a really sweet strike. I just caught the ball nicely and it flew in the net. I set myself a target of five for the season, so I’m almost there.

“As a team we were all so disappointed not to have won at Tranmere. We played some really good stuff and on another day we would have killed them off in that opening half-hour.

“Their first equaliser was a bit gutting, but sometimes you get goals like that and on other occasions they go against you, like that one. We were devastated not to get the three points.”
