JAMES Wesolowski cleaned up at last night’s Athletic awards dinner by taking FIVE individual titles.

The midfield man - whose future at Boundary Park remains in the balance - claimed supporter and player Player of the Season awards to cap an excellent campaign that also brought him the Chronicle’s Star Man prize.

“We’ve had some ups and downs but we came back strongly at the end of the season,” said out-of-contract Wesolowski (26). “There are some promising signs and if we can keep this group together, next season could be a good one.”

Other clubs are likely to bid for the player, who has been at Boundary Park since 2011. But both Athletic and the player are hopeful of reaching agreement on a new contract.

The former Leicester City and Peterborough United man won the top individual prize last night - voted by supporters - ahead of colleagues Korey Smith, Danny Philliskirk and Jonson Clarke-Harris.

And as well as being recognised by his peers, Wesolowski claimed an award for being named man of the match most times, another from Boundary Blues young fans, and also one for being Trust Oldham’s player of the season.

Smith won the goal of the season award for his superb long-range strike to equalise at Leyton Orient,

Clarke-Harris was Athletic’s young player of the year and Adam Lockwood received a special “spirit of Oldham” award for his late-season impact.

Anton Rodgers’ sterling work in the community was rewarded when he was named as the Community Trust’s player of the season.

There were also two lifetime achievement awards: to retiring long-serving academy scout Ronnie Millward, and to Roy Butterworth, who has worked in the media department at the club for 50 years.

JAMES Wilson has been named in a provisional 40-man Wales squad to face the Netherlands in June.

Athletic boss Lee Johnson has taken up the option of a contract for next season on the centre-back, who will now hope to make the cut when Chris Coleman reduces his squad to 23 players later this month.

Wilson (25) gained his first senior cap earlier this season, in a World Cup qualifier in Belgium which finished 1-1.
