Topsy-turvy start for Taylor’s Gills

GILLINGHAM, Athletic’s opponents this weekend, have endured a mixed 2014-15 so far.
The Gills have won two, drawn one and lost three league games and FOUR different players have been captain. But Peter Taylor’s side impressed in last Friday’s 1-0 defeat at Coventry.
Both skipper Doug Loft and vice-captain Danny Kedwell have been injured, though the latter is expected to return for Saturday’s trip to Oldham.
Taylor believes similar performances to that at Coventry will bring in points: “We were playing against a very good footballing team and were never going to have the ball more than Coventry.
“If we can create as many chances as we did against a good team like that in the second half, we aren’t far away.”
Gillingham’s main threat comes from Danny Kedwell and Jermaine McGlashan, though injury doubts affect both. Kedwell has already scored four goals this season and McGlashan was tentatively linked to Athletic during the summer before moving to the Kent side.
