JOSEPH Mills is returning to top form after struggling to get up to speed at the start of the season.
Mills, a summer arrival from Burnley, says he feels he is moving towards his best after a long break.
“I feel I’m getting better and getting forward more. As a whole back four I feel we’re improving all the time. With each game we’re gelling more.”
The left-back is aiming for three points when Scunthorpe United visit SportsDirect.com Park on Saturday - which would make up for what he sees as an opportunity lost at Notts County.
Mills admitted the dressing room was a glum place after the goalless draw.
“It was another away point and another clean sheet, but there was no happiness after the game,” said Mills, an important member of a back four which has kept five clean sheets in its last six outings.
“We should have got the three points. We deserved to win. Notts County is a tough place to go to and their fans create a good atmosphere, but we coped well and attacked a lot. We just lacked that clinical finish.
“From a defensive point of view we’re doing okay. We feel we should be further up the league table, but ultimately, if you don’t take your chances, you don’t get the win.
“You would think there will be chances for us this weekend against Scunthorpe. They had a decent win last midweek which will have lifted confidence. But if we play our game to the best of our ability, we can impose ourselves on most teams in our division.”
