CONFLICTING emotions struck Lee Johnson after watching his side dig in to gain a point and stretch the team’s Athletic's unbeaten run to eight.

Jonathan Forte's opening goal was cancelled out by Michael Bostwick's skidding drive after a half-clearance in the first half at London Road.

Marcus Maddison's free-kick from 25 yards beat Paul Rachubka to put Peterborough in front and was a source of annoyance for the manager, who was pleased that Genseric Kusunga capped a mixed display by heading home from a corner.

For Johnson, this was far from his team playing at their peak: to get a point under heavy pressure on a boggy surface brought some satisfaction.

“I don't think we were at our best and we looked a bit leggy,” he said.

“We had three or four good spells. Certainly the first 15 minutes, then they had a patch and we had a period where we hit them on a couple of breaks and kept the ball really well.

“It was a difficult game, for both sides. We come out with a point when it could have gone either way.

“It is a good sign when we were not at our absolute best but picked up a point.”
