Club puts down Evans talk

ATHLETIC have quashed rumours that the club is primed to sign convicted rapist Ched Evans.
A national newspaper report yesterday said the club had held talks last week with the former Sheffield United striker following his release from prison after serving half his five-year sentence.
Sheffield have already cancelled plans to allow Evans to train with them. And in a statement released early this morning, Athletic made their intentions clear regarding the 25 year old, who has also been turned down by struggling League Two outfit Tranmere.
“The directors would like to confirm we will not be extending an invitation for Ched Evans to train with Oldham Athletic, nor will be offering him a contract,” the statement read.
