LEE Johnson admitted he felt responsible for the team not performing to anywhere near their best in front a crowd swelled by the inducement of £5 entry.
“I feel bad personally, for the chairman as he put the offer on and for the players as they want to play in front of the biggest crowds possible,” said Johnson.
“I just feel upset, really. But football is never easy. There are always two teams – three if you include the match officials – and things don't always go the way you want.”
Athletic are now sixth in League One but could be overtaken by Peterborough, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Bradford if midweek results go against them.
