JACK Tuohy struck a last-minute winning goal at Accrington Stanley to send Athletic’s under-18s into the Northern final of the Football League Youth Alliance Cup.
The 18-year-old midfielder struck when Stanley were holding on for a 1-1 draw. Tuohy’s intervention ensured the season will end on a high for the side with a showpiece game against Wigan.
If the win that game, the national final beckons.
The date of the final, which is to be played at Wigan Athletic’s DW Stadium, has yet to be arranged.
Athletic’s under-18s are next in action against Burnley on Saturday morning (11am
kick-off at Chapel Road).
