Former goalkeeper dies

FORMER Athletic goalkeeper Harry Dowd has died at the age of 76.
An FA Cup winner with Manchester City in 1969, Salford-born Dowd left Maine Road a year later and went on to have a successful four-year stay at Boundary Park.
He made of 121 league appearances for Athletic until 1974, ending his career at Northwich Victoria.
Dowd was a popular figure while with Athletic.
He turned out 181 times for City after initially signing for the club on amateur terms and scored an equalising goal against Bury in 1964, after switching to centre-forward due to a thumb injury.
