Latics ‘short-changed’ by goal

DARREN Kelly said his side‘s point against Shrewsbury left him feeling short-changed:
“For about 70 minutes, the game was ours to take. Through a lapse in concentration, we conceded a soft goal. We are very disappointed not to win,” he said.
“It almost feels like a defeat, to be honest. But we move on. We got a penalty but ideally, we would have liked to have created more chances. When we were in possession, we showed good quality and got into good areas.
“All credit to Shrewsbury though for battling back, albeit with a soft goal. When you concede, you want character to shine through. Shrewsbury, when they scored, started to get on top and the goal gave them confidence.”
The game saw the first start for experienced newcomer David Dunn: “Seventy minutes on the field was right, as he hasn’t completed 90 in pre-season. It’s a matter of seeing him through everything. You see his vision and in midfield we have the quality to hurt any team. But here, it just wasn't our day.”
