Doncaster Rovers 1 - Oldham Athletic 1
ATHLETIC began life under new interim boss David Dunn with an encouraging 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Doncaster.
A much-altered Athletic side matched their hosts every step of the way and the 600-plus travelling army will have headed back down the M62 feeling much better than they did a week earlier.
An Athletic containing SIX changes to their line-up following the thrashing by Peterborough opened brightly at the Keepmoat Stadium, with wide-man Mark Yeates twice going close from distance.
However, the game burst into life after 26 minutes when Rovers took the lead, against the run of play.
It was a scruffy opener from the hosts, with defender Andy Butler squeezing a close-range header past the recalled David Cornell from Cameron Stewart's cross.
It only took Athletic eight minutes to reply, though, with a defender again on the scoresheet.
This time Athletic's Middlesbrough loanee headed home his first goal for the visitors as he met a sweet in-swinging cross from the dangerous Yeates.
Athletic were then rescued by the woodwork twice inside a matter of seconds.
Stewart's curling free-kick hit the bar, then as the rebound wasn't cleared, early sub Dany N'Guessan saw a header tipped onto the crossbar by the stretching Cornell.
The second half was a much more pedestrian affair, with lone front-man Dominic Poleon dragging a shot well wide soon after the restart.
The highlight came at the other end when Cornell produced a brilliant finger-tip save to keep out N'Guessan's thunderous strike.
