Athletic count the cost of cup exit

ATHLETIC have missed out on up to £171,000 by not getting through to the third round of the FA Cup.

Conquerers Sheffield United ended up drawn against Manchester United at Old Trafford, taking £27,000 in prizemoney along the way.

The game has since been selected for live TV coverage on January 9. The Blades will pick up £144,000 as a live fee.
