Right rain call — Dunn

Manager David Dunn has agreed with the decision to call off Oldham’s game against Millwall on Saturday.
Match referee Richard Clark postponed the match at around 1.30pm on Saturday - with an already heavy pitch forecast to take plenty more rain. With no match for fans already in the ground’s new north stand to watch, Dunn launched a question and answer session instead.
“At the time, I was disappointed and not quite sure if it was the right decision,” Dunn said.
“It was very disappointing for everyone concerned. We had prepared all week and very well too, while the fans would have been well on their way to the ground when the decision was made — including the Millwall supporters and team.
“With the rain that came down after that, if the game had started I am sure it would have ended up being called off. That would have been worse. We were really looking forward to it and though it is easy to say after the event, I was really confident of getting that win. We all want to put home form right.
Other results in Sky Bet League One went against Athletic, leaving Dunn’s side second-bottom of the table, albeit with a game in hand on rivals in the relegation zone.
Dunn was philosophical about the drop - ahead of Saturday’s clash at a Coventry side who stay second after losing 1-0 at Sheffield United yesterday.
“We can't control what other people do — all we can do is our best when we play,” Dunn added.
“It is a competitive league and there is not much between a lot of sides. “We know we need to pick up wins.”
