FORMER Athletic player David Mellor has been given the all-clear after seeing a heart specialist.
The 22 year old, from Shaw now plays at Vanarama National League side Barrow, after leaving Oldham last season.
A faint in training earlier this month led to an ECG test, which uncovered an irregular heartbeat - which while not serious to be worrying, was given extra investigation. Mellor had suffered a similar fainting issue with Athletic a couple of years ago and again visited a heart specialist.
“Lots of people have an irregular heartbeat and it’s not an issue,” said Barrow’s head therapist Dan Anderton.
“We sent him to this guy who knows all about David from his Oldham days. Anything related to the heart, we need to be really robust with the tests we do.”
Mellor will soon be ready to return to the team
