CHRIS Renshaw was the hero as Athletic’s under-18s saw off Bournemouth in dramatic fashion last night.
After making a string of excellent saves in an FA Youth Cup third-round tie which finished at 1-1 after extra time, Renshaw pounced to stop two penalties in a shoot-out that finished 8-7 to Athletic.
The second of those saves in sudden-death sparked big celebrations from Athletic’s side.
Ryan Leonard scored the opening goal against the Premier League club, with Sam Surridge levelling just before half-time.
Tony Philliskirk’s teenagers now face a home tie against Luton Town in round four. The game is set to take place next week.
