JOHN Sheridan has backed the decision of referee Jeremy Simpson to call off the Blackpool game - while making the point Athletic aren’t the only team having difficult conditions to combat.
“I think it was the right decision, unfortunately,” he added. “The players all wanted the game to be on, but with the weather the pitch was just getting worse and worse.
“We possibly could have started the game, but I don’t think we would have finished it and the pitch would have cut up badly as well. It’s a concern for everyone; there have been quite a few teams having matches called off.
“We now have five games in two weeks this month, which means we won’t be training as much and it is
important we keep everyone fit and ready.”
The emergency loan window officially reopened today and Sheridan confirmed that he is getting nearer to bringing in new players. “We are speaking to one or two and we hope something will happen,” he said.
