FAN SALUTE . . . John Sheridan acknowledges the travelling army.
JOHN Sheridan was delighted with his team’s efforts in gaining a point at Wigan, his only regret being that it was not an even better result:
“We were unfortunate not to come away with three points. We were tremendous in the first half and I am proud of the players.
“It is a good point and nobody expected us to get anything here today, the way they have been scoring goals. We looked a good team. I changed my formation and had to give them respect.
“The shape about us was really good. It was a well deserved point and a shame we didn’t get all three.”
Sheridan also praised his goalkeeper and the way his defence dealt with the threat of winger Yanic Wildschut:
“Joel Coleman made two saves, one with his foot and a great save near the end one-handed. Other than that I was very comfortable. Yanic Wildschut came into it in the second half, which you expect, but we stood our ground.”
