GOAL . . . Curtis Main
ATHLETIC 2, SWINDON 0
LIAM Kelly and Curtis Main were on the score sheet as Athletic earned a deserved three points to further boost their battle against the drop.
Kelly opened the scoring in the 10th minute, arriving late into the penalty area to accurately head home a lovely left-wing cross by the impressive Jonathan Forte.
Main doubled the lead on 82 minutes, heading a bouncing ball beyond Tyrell Belford from James Wilson's lofted cross.
Bradley Barry headed against the crossbar from an acute angle two minutes after Kelly's opener in a fractious contest and Louis Thompson forced a scrambling low save from Joel Coleman, while at the other end Forte's low cross ran right across the six-yard box on the stroke of half-time without anyone applying a crucial scoring touch.
Ellis Iandolo shot over from the edge of the area for Swindon after the break and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis saw his sharp burst into the box end with a cross that was blocked, but neither goalkeeper was seriously tested before Main's intervention, as he netted for the first time in Athletic colours.
