Carnival preparations

START thinking of summer and join in the latest meeting of Failsworth Carnival Committee at Failsworth School, Brierley Avenue, tonight at 7.30pm. Next year’s event will take place on May 19 and 20. New members welcome.


TEENAGERS can attend Limehurst Integrated Youth Centre, Farm Road, tomorrow between 6 and 9pm and take part in a range of activities including table tennis, pool, games, team-building, cookery, arts and crafts.


GET in the festive spirit with the Failsworth Christmas lights switch-on at Failsworth Pole on Friday at 7pm. Music, songs and free refreshments. Father Christmas will join Oldham rugby mascot Roary the Lion along with the Failsworth Carnival Queen.


BUDDING pre-school musicians and their grandparents can enjoy a Mainly Music session on Friday at Failsworth Salvation Army, Oldham Road, from 9.30 to 11am.


AN exhibition of Christmas cribs and nativity scenes from around the world will be on show on Saturday at Roman Road Independent Methodist Church, Failsworth, from 10am to 3pm, and on Sunday from 10am to 1pm. Light refreshments available.


ENJOY festive music from Lydgate Brass Band at a winter concert at St Margaret’s and St Chad’s Church, Chapel Road, Hollinwood, on Sunday from 2pm. Adults £4.50, children £2. In aid of the church roof fund.


BOOK your place at Failsworth Historical Society’s Christmas social evening at Woodhouses Cricket Pavilion, 7pm, on Wednesday, December 7. On the menu is meat and potato pie and apple pie, plus musical entertainment. Tickets £5.50. Call 0161-684 3595.
