Canal patrol
Date published: 30 January 2012
POLICE are planning to patrol Rochdale Canal to reduce crime.
Officers from the Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Police Team are working on plans to target specific crime threats across the district.
These include plans to target offenders over the next few months in a bid to stop an increased risk in domestic burglaries.
A report by Failsworth and Hollinwood Inspector Muzemil Kernain showed that, generally, crime was down across Failsworth and Hollinwood compared with last year.
::Inspector Kernain confirmed that the public inquiry desk at Failsworth Police Station would close in April. The closures are part of a move to save Greater Manchester Police £1.5million.
The building, in Oldham Road, will remain in use as a working police station, but the force is looking for a new building in the area from which to operate.
