Police inquiry desks to close
Date published: 08 February 2012
PUBLIC-INQUIRY desks at Failsworth and Royton police stations will close next Monday.
The move is one of Greater Manchester Police Authority’s measures to save £134 million by 2015.
Only 12 people a day use the desks at the two neighbourhood police stations, compared to 153 daily visitors at Oldham and 28 at Chadderton — which will remain open with reduced hours.
Chief Insp Rob Tinsley said: “The closure of the inquiry counter will not have an impact on policing in Oldham. We will continue to provide contact locally with officers at neighbourhood meetings and surgeries, by telephone, email and through social networks.”
Local residents can contact:
::Failsworth and Hollinwood Neighbourhood Policing Team (covering Failsworth East, Failsworth West, Hollinwood and Limeside) on 0161 856 8914 or failsworthandhollinwood.npt@gmp.police.uk.
::Royton and Shaw Neighbourhood Policing Team (covering Royton North, Royton South, Crompton and Shaw) on 0161 856 8983 or roytonandshaw.npt@gmp.police.uk.
